Nick & Bootsy took to the road for a CLASSIC music weekend that started off at The Public House in Rolla for Bob’s (as in Bob Kraus, fellow musician and Pink Floyd lover) Psychedelic Pink Floyd Adventure. We met Bob and new friends, Randy & Jane, at The Public House for pizza, beer and conversation before the show at Leach Theater by Classic Albums LIVE, who performed the classic album of the evening – Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon – in it’s entirety. We headed back to the Public House after the show and chilled to some classic jazz by local jazz trio, Cuz. After some smooth tunes from Cuz, we headed across the street to The Locker Room where our buddy, Mike Terry, and his Class Rockcover band, Hott Mess was rockin’ the night away! It WAS a weekend for the classics!
Needless to say, that got us good and ready for Show #260 of The Basement Tapes with Nick & Bootsy with tunes from:
- Badgerstatic
- The Sunday Reeds
- Jaq Mackenzie
- Sandy Carroll
- Tymon Dogg
- Careless Eaters
- The Strands
- The Hollywood Kills
- Anthony Gomes
- Conman Economy
- Sloth Baby & the Land Pirates
- Exit 380
- Post Nuclear Trash
- ClusterPluck
- Ball Gag n’ Chain Gang
- Snarky Dave & The Prickly Bluesmen
How ’bout a little Smith Bros – as in Aerosmith – for Nick’s Pics on Show #260? Nope, you won’t hear THESE tunes on your Classic Rock stations, but you’ll hear ’em on The Basement Tapes with Nick & Bootsy!
Since we started the weekend with some Pink Floyd, it was only right that we included Merle’s Riff of the Week – Brain Damage – on the show’s playlist. Jason Adams did a great job of demonstrating how to play “that riff” from Brain Damage. If you’re a local shopper at Merle’s Music, you can post your rendition of the Riff of the Week on Merle’s Facebook page to get you name in the drawing for 15% off anything in the store!
The Basement Tapes with Nick & Bootsy is a weekly radio show that originates live in Rolla, Missouri at K-KID 92.9fm and is also recorded and posted online as a podcast.
