Show #208 with James & Erin of Madora

James Webb and Erin Cain of Madora with Nick & Bootsy in the Basement

James Webb, Erin Cain, Bootsy and Nick

On Show #208, we welcome James Webb (guitar/vocals) and Erin Cain (drums) of Madora to the Basement. Madora has gone through quite a few lineup changes since we first met them back in 2011. They started out as a 3-piece; gained a lead guitar; changed drummers and bass players; lost the new lead guitar and bass player – and that brings us to the “power duo” of James and Erin of Madora 2014.

We also feature Moon jr of Rolla, Missouri with a triple shot of songs from their live performance at the 2011 K-KID Battle of the Bands at Big Rock Candy Mountain in Jadwin, Missouri. The band has been quite a musical force in the mid-Missouri area and has even toured in states throughout the midwest. Like all of us, life has a tendency to throw us curves now and then and priorities often change to go along with them. Augie, Nathan, Jon and Heath have taken roads that have led them to different locations with different lifestyles and responsibilities. They played their final live show at Meramec Winery in St. James, Missouri on Saturday, October 4. We weren’t able to attend due to a previous commitment, but we’re hoping that one day the guys will get back together for a reunion show. We wish all of them the best in their various endeavors, both musical and personal. From Pauline’s Basement to Rude Machine to Moon jr, they’ve shown themselves to be some of the best musicians we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. You can still get the CD they released earlier in 2014 and if you haven’t already, you really do need to add it to your collection.

Also on Show #208:

On Friday night, we got to go to Wildwood Springs Lodge in Steelville, Missouri to see a live performance by Brewer & Shipley and Gypsy. It was a GREAT show and a big thanks to Steve Wheeler at K-KID 92.9fm for inviting us. Nick talked to James Walsh, lead singer and keyboardist of Gypsy, a the show and arranged to talk with him on the phone during Show #208.

Andrew Stratman of Andrew Stratman & The Dirty Midwest dropped in to sing us a new tune – and yes, he brought Dylan Crowder with him, too! Andrew and Jon Ammerman (drummer for Moon jr) area headed to Nashville and we know they’ll make lots of fans and friends in the country music capital of the US of A!
