Nick and Bootsy go to see Tommy Castro in St. Louis and Chemically Imbalanced in Rolla

At the last minute, Nick decided to take a road trip to see one of our favorite bands: Tommy Castro & the Painkillers. We’ve been following Tommy since I heard the song, Had Enough, on the radio a couple of years back. I called my friend and fellow Diezelfitter bandmate, Eric Richards (he also works at our local NPR station where I heard the song) and asked him who did it since I missed the artist. After some investigation, he found out it was Tommy Castro and we’ve all be big fans ever since. Needless to say, we had a blast. The venue, The Old Rock House, was a small, intimate place where we grabbed front row table and scarfed some house specialty nachos while we rocked out with Tommy and the Band.

On Saturday night, we sat in for our buddies, Dusty and Jesse, of The Living Room Chair show on K-KID. They were out of town at Byrdfest down in Arkansas whooping it up with The Schwag and friends. We had a great time in the chair and after the show, we went out to local venue, Sput’s Place, to see Chemically Imbalanced from St. Louis. Alan Byrd MORE than adequately fronted the band with his smokin’ lead guitar and signature vocals. He was back on drums by Steve-Squared – Steve Miller on drums and Steve Potts on bass. We had a great time and will be back at Sput’s in August to see the band again.
